Deadly Strain - the first in the series of three books in the Biological Response Team!
Description:
Major Grace Samuels, a trauma surgeon deployed to Afghanistan, spends her life helping her fellow soldiers overcome disease and combat injuries. But her own wounds are harder to heal. Wracked with guilt over the death of a fellow soldier, she finds comfort in her only friend and appointed bodyguard, weapons sergeant Jacob “Sharp” Foster.
Sharp feels more for Grace than a soldier should, more than he wants to admit. When the team discovers a new, quick-to-kill strain of anthrax, he tries to focus on the mission to find its source. He knows he can help Grace defeat her demons, but first they must defeat the deadly outbreak.
Sharp is Grace’s most loyal ally, but in close quarters, he starts to feel like more. She can’t watch someone else she cares about die—but she might not have a choice. The closer they get to finding the source of the strain, the closer it gets to finding them.

4 ½ star review from RT Mag!
“Deadly Strain is a gripping, terrifying hybrid that combines suspense with romance without compromising either aspect of the story. The plot goes from one extreme situation to another in a nonstop, war-driven roller-coaster ride, proving Grace and Sharp are both survivors— and somewhere along the way, they fall in love. The strength of these characters is amazing because they keep their wits in the toughest of situations. Readers will be thrilled to know that another book featuring the Biological Rapid Response Team is coming soon.”

Julie Rowe packs in the action with this fantastic military romance. Major Grace Samuels could almost be a superhero but her all too human faults make her a heroine we all would love to be and who we love to read about. Jacob "Sharp" Foster is the perfect Alpha male, he's protective and yet still respectful of her abilities. He is brave and strong, loyal and fierce, he has a sense of humor and a deep understanding of Grace's demons. If I hadn't lost my heart to him from pretty much the beginning I would have definitely done so as soon as he shared his past with Grace. I loved the maturity of this story, how war was the backdrop and the realities of these were not glossed over but rather stated so matter of fact that the reader has no choice but to accept it. The additional characters in the story add interesting details and are some of the most engaging individuals I have come across as secondaries in a story. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. I experienced an adrenaline rush while reading this one and raced through it but never felt rushed or as if the speed took anything away from the emotions or the romance. In short I loved this book and cannot recommend it highly enough. If action adventure with deep emotion are high on your list this is a must read.
